Over the last year, the Partnership has hosted a number of online dissemination events, on behalf of Thames Valley Domestic Abuse Steering Group. These have proved to be a very good opportunity to share useful information and insight with those working in the field of domestic abuse and related areas.
Our event on the 16th November 2021 (Changing Attitudes, Behaviours and Beliefs) focussed on Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Interventions. Domestic abuse perpetrator programmes and interventions are aimed at reducing incidence of domestic abuse by changing the attitudes, behaviours and beliefs of perpetrators. There are a variety of models used in the implementation of programmes and this event offered a short national overview, outlined the range of services and providers currently available locally in the Thames Valley and shared lived experience – an honest and motivating personal testimony from Andy, who has previously worked through the Thames Valley Probation’s Building Better Relationships intervention and explained how this has changed him and where he finds himself now.
We were joined on the day by just under 200 delegates (agencies, statutory bodies, practitioners, organisations and volunteers working in the area of protection and support of victims and their families and/or in a capacity connected to perpetrator interventions/programmes). Where speakers offered their input through slides, these are listed below.
We wish to thank all those who made this event possible – our event planning group who work to pull everything together, the speakers and facilitators who gave freely of their expertise and knowledge and Andy for baring his soul in front of 200 people.
